West Coast Singers was honored and thrilled
to receive the Pat Parker Arts Award
at the 2010 L.A. Pride Celebration, June 11-13, 2010.

The Pat Parker Award
recognizes an individual or organization
that supports the LGBT spirit through the arts.
This award is dedicated to the legacy of Pat Parker,
a groundbreaking African American lesbian poet and activist.

Created in 1983, the West Coast Singers is the third oldest mixed-voiced chorus of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender singers in the nation. Upon its inception the organization's primary purpose was to provide a safe environment for gays and lesbians to come together and sing. The West Coast Singers have performed at many community events including: the California AIDS Lifecycle closing ceremonies, the Gay & Lesbian Center's 25th anniversary, PFLAG's 20th anniversary dinner, the GLAAD Tidings annual holiday party, the Imperial Court of Los Angeles and the Names Project presentation of the Aids Memorial Quilt at UCLA.

Support WCS While You Shop!

Ralph's Community Contribution Program is a vital fundraising source for the West Coast Singers, where you can shop at Ralphs as you normally do and Ralphs will donate a percentage of your shopping to West Coast Singers! Ralphs has recently changed their policy and are now asking that individually, each person who is either a current contributor or wanting to contribute, will need to access the Ralph's website and input their personal information. Please take a brief moment to fill out your name, address, Ralphs card number (found on the back of the red card, under the barcode), as well as the WCS NPO# which is 81672.

In the event that you do not have your Ralphs number, you can either call Ralphs Club Card Hotline from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 800-660-9003 to update your information using your phone number, or you can use the card at Ralphs and ask the cashier for the full number in order to update online. (It appears on the cashier's screen when you enter your phone number.) Your full club number no longer appears on your receipt.

Weekly rehearsals are every Monday from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m., from January through June, and September through early December, at the Angelus Plaza Senior Activity Center in downtown Los Angeles, 255 S. Hill St., at the northwest corner of 3rd & Hill.

West Coast Singers is the third oldest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered, mixed-voice chorus in the nation. The chorus consists of lesbian, gay, transgendered, bisexual, and heterosexual men and women who enjoy singing and the camaraderie of a community chorus. The chorus strives to achieve musical excellence and entertain audiences, as well as promote understanding, healing, and cooperation within the greater Los Angeles community.
